In conversation: What makes GKN Automotive stand apart from other Tier 1 suppliers?
Last month, GKN Automotive hosted a number of major customers from the US for an unforgettable day at the M1 Concourse in Detroit, Michigan. While at the event, we caught up with some of our team, for their insights into what makes GKN Automotive stand out from its Tier 1 competitors, as a trusted partner to 90% of the world’s global automotive manufacturers.
Kyle Cleland, VP of Commercial, commented:
“What differentiates GKN Automotive from other Tier 1s is our truly global footprint. We have a long-standing footprint globally in nearly every country in which our customers operate, as well as a long-standing joint venture in China to support Chinese OEMs. This gives us a competitive advantage with many of the large global customers.”
Sharing his view on what gives GKN Automotive a competitive edge, Keiwan Kashi, VP of Engineering for all-wheel drive systems and ePowertrain explained:
“What differentiates us from others is our strength in system engineering, our ability to not only consider performance and efficiency, but also sustainability very early in the design phase. Our data driven decision making and continuous improvement in manufacturing engineering gives us a competitive edge.”
Ray Kuczera, VP of Engineering for Driveline Systems added his take, explaining how sustainability is embedded into the earliest thinking of every product from GKN Automotive, as part of our commitment to driving a cleaner, more #sustainable world.
“At GKN Automotive we don’t talk about sustainability; we design it into the products. Our latest drive shafts, we're minimising the manufacturing process, minimising material use, and minimising energy use during the processing. Sustainability for us, is not something new, it’s not something we have to go out of our way to consider, it’s something that's built into every product from the beginning to the time it leaves the factory.”
