GKN Automotive technology supports Lucid World Record for EV distance on a single charge
Last month, the Lucid Air Grand Touring, equipped with GKN Automotive sideshafts, demonstrated its superior efficiency by covering 1,205km (approximately 749 miles) on a single charge, surpassing the previous world record by 160km.
The journey, which started in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and concluded in Munich, Germany, demonstrated the vehicle’s impressive capability and range.
GKN Automotive’s SX Countertrack CV Joint was selected for use in the Lucid Air due to the excellent torque transfer efficiency it provides. To enhance its efficiency, the vehicle also made use of GKN Automotive Monobloc Tubular Interconnecting Shafts (MTS), which enabled further weight savings and subsequent efficiency gains.
As range remains a key consideration in electric vehicle adoption, contributing to ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of what’s possible reflects GKN Automotive’s commitment to advancing electric mobility, as well as the reliability of its components and its engineering excellence.
